Genre: Romance/Drama
This is written in third person POV. Majority part of the story is in one paragraph so it is hard to follow. When it was said that glancing at Chihiro by an unidentified figure lasted the rest of the day, I lost my interest in this story already. Nothing else happened while she had the Figure staring at her from lunch break until when the school finished! How boring is that -_-” If the stranger was Haku, it has failed to describe the desperate emotions and feelings of how much Chihiro has been missing him. The description of the figure reminded me of the No Face in the original animation which did not appeal to me. I loved and enjoyed the real canon Haku who was handsome, attractive, caring and charismatic. Hence I feel the description of the figure’s character does not appeal to me. I hope this writer does not change Haku, and similarly the character No Face.
As far as the grammar concerned, there is no space between the paragraphs so it was hard to read through. Some mistakes with punctuation such as a comma after ‘if I scared you’ and an apostrophe in ‘figures’ and so on. This disturbed my joy of reading it. Other than that it was a good read.
2. Trust me from Tangled
This is a romantic fanfic which is written in third person perspective. Although the script is relatively short, it shows how much Rapunzel and Eugene (Flynn) love one another. I enjoyed the way Eugene expresses his strong love towards his lover. The way he proposed to her is even sweet and cute. He is charming. The whole story is going along with dialogue which makes me more want to get into those characters.
3. What You Don't Know from Tangled
Genre: romance/humour
It is written in third person perspective. The choices of words are so dynamic, expressive and descriptive. The plot of the whole story is well organised and easy to follow. It is so humorous as well as sensual. The fanfic makes me feel that I was there as Rapunzel. The writer expresses carefully the standard of morality as s/he describes the bright side as opposed to the dark side. It has an interesting enough dialogue to read. The writer approaches it with a sensitive and detailed description of the feelings and emotions of the two main characters, Rapunzel and Eugene. This fanfic stimulates and encourages my imaginary world. The vocabularies in the text are so diverse. The writer shows that this fanfic is an enhanced story from the original as bringing the tower and her ex-long blonde magic hair back again in this scene. OMG I loved it. It is the best of all :)
4. Picturesque Moment from Tangled
This is a romantic and humorous fanfic and is written in third person perspective. This is a continued story of after they fell in love with each other. Although there are some descriptions about the sweet hero couple, but it seems to me a bit too slow. Having a few dialogues makes me a little bit bored too. However, I liked the last paragraph which is the description of the Queen POV.
5. A Mother’s Wisdom from Tangled
Genre:Family/Hurt/comfort This fanfic is written in literary point of view. The whole story is described through dialogues between Rapunzel and her real mother, the Queen. So it sounds dynamic and interesting. Since such an intimate relationship did not appear in the canon characters, it has altered the reality of the original. The emotions of both main characters are under controlled. Especially, the last scene about how the Queen met her husband, now a King, attracts my interest to know more about this fanfic.
6. Fantasy from Tangled
Genre: Fantasy/hurt /comfort
This is in third person perspective. The story actually contains a little bit of romantic and funny tastes of Eugene. The writer has however re-created his character as a dowdyish teenage boy. There is no fantasy anymore but the reality. There is plenty of hurting, but where is the comforting? ㅜ,ㅜ Knowing that it is originally a fantasy story helps me accept what the writer has left at the end ‘happily ever afters are only fantasy after all.’ But we all still love the fantasy, aren’t we?
7. If I never knew you from Tangled
This fanfic crossover Tangled and Pocahontas and is written in third person POV. It is a continued story of the actual movie. The genre is romance, hurt and comfort. It really gives me chill on my face and back as it is so romantic. The descriptions of loving feelings and emotions between the two main characters are great. I haven’t watched the Pocahontas, but I listened to the song through Youtube with trailers to gain a brief story about the movie. I loved the part of the fic which used the song lyrics while they dialogued. I still have goose bumps. However, as the song repeated and continued until almost at the end, I thought it was a little bit too much. This fandom must have loved the song a lot. Over all, anyway, it is a good crossover fanfic.
8. Aina, The Talentless Witch from Kiki’s Delivery Service
Genre:Adventure/Romance This fanfic is written in first person from the perspective of Aina, a daughter of Kiki and Tombo. The story’ timeline is much later than the real animation. It is interesting enough to accept that Kiki and Tombo got married and have a daughter now. It shows the continuation of the original story as this fandom keeps Kiki as a canon character. For example, Kiki’s cat and old radio are still in the fanfic. The whole story is not that exciting, but it makes me at least looking forward to reading the next one. I like the last paragraph of ‘not knowing what to expect, and not expecting what I found’. What’s going to happen next to the talentless witch girl I wonder?
9. Our First Meeting from Tangled
The genre of this fanfic is same as the original movie, romantic and humorous. The interesting aspect for me is that it is written in first person from Rapunzel’s perspective. Apart from that, the setting, storyline and characters are very much the same. “huh… -_-” what is amazing (according to the first review received) about this fanfic. Even what was happening through their first meeting is almost same as the original. I hope this fandom might have to change the title as it makes me to expect more than what is written in here. Is it too judgmental, sorry :) But I enjoyed reading anyway.
10. Now That I See You from Tangled
This is such a romantic fanfic. It is written in the POV of third person. It is very expressive and delicately descripted. I like the sensitivity of the description of the feelings. It has just hooked up my heart and got me. It is well paragraphed and easy to read through. No single moment makes me bored with. Although it can be a common romantic fanfic, it doesn’t sound stereotypical at all. Especially, the last sentence of ‘but the kiss never came’ makes it so interesting. How brilliant! I truly want to follow this fanfic and find out what is happening after that.
It's impressive that you managed to find 10 links to fanfic based on your canon! You clearly looked into the different ways in which you could share your fanfic, and this shows in your piece of writing also. Good work!
ReplyDeleteHi, Grace.
ReplyDeleteThanks a lot for your comments :) I think I have become a big fan of the 'fanfic.net' I might have to write more stories with a wide range of genre. However, I should ignore the fact that the fandoms may ignore mine -_-
